A/N: My apologies for posting this so late. And the sad thing is even after reading the first few lines, I can’t quite remember what I wrote… ^^||

Her heart was breaking.

She bit her lip, watching helplessly as Tiffany buried her face in her hands. The tears rolling down the girl’s face was ripping Taeyeon apart more than the sounds of her crying. Not daring to touch her, Taeyeon stuffed her hands into her pockets instead, staring at her shoes.

How did I get myself into this mess?

_______~*~_______

“You know, for someone who doesn’t want people to know she’s a lesbian, you’re being really obvious about it right now.”

Taeyeon whipped her head around, closing her mouth when she realized she had been gaping at the girl who had just walked through the door. Embarrassment heated up her cheeks, and she averted her eyes from the girl sitting next to her.

“I don’t really mind that much if you check out girls in front of me, but it’d be nice if you could be a little more subtle about it,” she continued.

“Sorry.” It was all Taeyeon could muster, subdued by mortification.

“…Maybe you should actually go talk to her, you know, work on your social skills?” the girl suggested, tilting her head.

A brief look of confusion passed over Taeyeon’s face. “What, you sick of being with me all the time?” Taeyeon teased, a little suspicious about the girl’s intentions.

She rolled her eyes. “Yes. I’m just sooo sick of spending every single freaking moment of every day with the cutest girl ever,” she drawled, eyes twinkling with mirth. “I just think it’s a good skill to have. Helps you make connections, get a job,” she said, shrugging.

Taeyeon hesitated for a moment, but the thought of getting to know Miss Gorgeous-who-just-walked-in was tempting.

“…okay,” she decided, pushing her chair away from the table. “But remember it was your suggestion.”

“Hwaitaeng,” the girl cheered, giggling at her own joke before waving Taeyeon away. “Now go before you start staring at her mindlessly again.”

She paused. “You know, I’m lucky to have you,” she said in a low voice.

“Of course you are.” The girl pretended to flip her hair. “Now hurry up before I change my mind.”

Taeyeon didn’t need any more convincing. Nodding, she ran her fingers through her shoulder-length hair and stood, immediately spotting the redhead.

Deep breaths. You can do this. She’s just a person. A very hot girl, but still a person.

A small fist-pump later, she picked her way across the room, not hearing the light chuckle from behind her.

“Um… hi.”

The beautiful red head tilted up at Taeyeon’s words, confused eyes brightening with recognition.

“Hi! Kim Taeyeon, right?”

She blinked. “Uh, yeah. How..how’d you know?”

“You’re in my math class,” came the chirped reply like it was obvious. “Oh, speaking of math, can you help me with this problem? I’ve been staring at it, but it’s just making my brain hurt.”

Taeyeon glanced down at the paper as it was pushed toward her, recognizing it as their assignment that was due the next day. She also noticed only three out of ten questions had answers.

This is the perfect opening. Should I take it? They do say you only live once…

“…um, I don’t mean to be rude, but if you want, I can tutor you in math,” she said. “I mean, you’re probably not bad at it or anything, but it’ll help you save your brain from hurting.”

The girl’s eyes lit up at her offer. “Omigod really? That would be so great!” she exclaimed, quickly shoving aside her stuff to make room.

“By the way, my name’s Tiffany. Hwang Tiffany,” she said, a smile brightening her beautiful face.

And Taeyeon smiled back, feeling her heart race as she took the empty seat beside Tiffany.

It’s been 3 months since then, she thought, biting her lip. She had been so happy back then…until she had made the mistake of falling for her.

She should’ve known she couldn’t have everything.

Taeyeon found her eyes drawn back to Tiffany whose sobs seemed to have subsided. She swallowed hard, heart hurting.

“…I’m sorry,” she choked out, unable to look her in the eye.“I wish I could take it back. I wish I could do it all over again and not hurt you like this. I…if you want, you don’t have to ever see me again.”

“Oh, Taeyeon-ah,” Tiffany breathed, and Taeyeon looked up as her hands were clasped by another warm pair. “You should never have to apologize for something like this. I’m sorry for crying,” she said with a chuckle, releasing one of her hands to wipe at her eyes. “I just…I’m so happy.”

Taeyeon blinked at her. “I…you…what?” The smile that had sent her heart racing now stole her breath, but confusion kept her grounded. “I…I don’t understand. You…you were crying! And hiding your face in shame!”

Shaking her head, Tiffany squeezed her hand. “No, I was hiding my face because I couldn’t believe this was actually happening. I’ve been working up my courage to say something and didn’t expect to hear a confession today,” she said, giggling.

Taeyeon couldn’t help but grin.

“So that’s a yes then?” she whispered, squeezing their linked hands.

And Tiffany nodded, the love filling her heart making her breathless as Taeyeon leaned in.
